Pumpkin Patch and Pumpkin Carving

For Family Home Evening, Monday night, we went to the pumpkin patch at Arbor Day Farm. Ryan got home really early from work so he went to pick up Kaelyn from school and then we went to the pumpkin patch. I'm glad we were able to go. I didn't think we were going to be able to. Our Saturdays this month are pretty booked. This is our first visit to a pumpkin patch.

Jack is not 100% walking yet. We thought he looked like a little boy standing up (against the chair) with his shoes on (we just got those shoes for him and he doesn't like them very well). We just woke him up and he hadn't been feeling well that day. That's why his face is red.

Excuse the laundry in the back. It seems like these days there is always a load or two out.

This was literally a pumpkin patch. It wasn't pumpkins out on a lawn with hay. This is where they are grown and they just cut the pumpkins from the vine and left them out in the field. There were vines all over the ground. Morgan's hair kept getting caught in the tall weeds.

This is the best picture we could get with our pumpkin. Kaelyn was upset that she could catch a lady bug.

After, we went home and ate dinner, then it was time to carve the pumpkins! The one we got from the pumpkin patch and the one my grandparents bought for us when they were in town.This is how we do it every year:

I scrape the insides and draw the face on.

The girls pull out the stuff.

And Ryan carves.

They were very proud of their dirty hands (although you can't tell they are dirty from the pictures)

We normally do a traditional jack-o-lantern, but last year we said that we would want to do different one. So after Halloween I bought the kit on clearance and this year we used one of the templetes. We really like it. Maybe in a couple of years we can do something a little harder.
