Audubon Zoo

We went to the zoo Saturday. I've been wanting to go forever now and every weekend we've been busy. And it was a nice day too. The only thing was that there wasn't a cloud in the sky to protect us from the sun. The sun was pretty intense, but it was nice in the shade. For anyone who knows anything about Louisiana weather, when it's hot outside, there is no relief from the the sun in the shade. It's hot too. This is Jackson's first visit to the zoo. We love the zoo here in New Orleans. It's gong to stink if we ever have to move away from some reason and we can't visit this zoo anymore. Most other zoos kind of stink in comparison with Audubon. (I told you I was going to be posting even more pictures! This post took me two days to post becuase it takes so long for pictures to upload. And for some reason I can only do one at a time.)
Awwh! Look at me and my wittle man! Well, I guess he doesn't look so little any more. But he does look excited to be at the zoo!

The zoo had these pretty red flowers everywhere.

Daddy and his girls. Kaelyn didn't want to take a picture with Morgan, then she saw Daddy taking one with her and she reluctantly got in the picture.

Kaelyn looking at a Howler Monkey

For some reason Jack likes to stick out his tougue a lot.

Kaelyn was singing some song she made up and this little boy was just following her around. I guess he was singing too or he's just trying to talk to her. She was singing about pretending to be a dog and something about her heart. She found a zoo map, then she started singing about all the animals she saw on the map.

Morgan is serious about her Capri Suns. It's gone in seconds!

Morgan was squating to look at something and fell over.

Remember the picture of the alligator I posted a few weeks ago? There was another alligator by the "Beware of gators" sign yesterday.

Some of ya'll may not agree with the whole child leash thing, but I have to with Morgan. It is the first time I've ever used it. It's either that or lose her and I think I'd like to keep her around. Kaelyn wanted to hold it, but she was treating her like a dog and pulling her around. I just wanted it on her so she couldn't run off. I refused to pull on it. In fact, I encouraged her to hold my hand instead of me just holding the "leash."

Morgan has discovered water fountains and has to drink from every one she sees.

How would you like to find this in your mail box?

Swamp Monster!! We asked Kaelyn to go through this tunnel and at first she said no. Then she says, "Ok. If I must."

I know. Morgan looks a little weird. But look at her water bottle label very closely.

I want to go! That is probably one of the best zoo's around. The zoo in D.C. is up there too, along with the San Diego zoo. But there is something about the Audubon zoo, maybe it's the Louisiana feel to it, it's not a typical city zoo. Looks like fun. I want to go next time!!

I really miss that zoo! I am totally okay with the leash thing. I have three including the monkey one. I haven't really used it much with Madison but I used it all the time with Kylie. It saves lives in the airport that's for sure. A leash is so much better than letting your kids run around wild! P.S.....you look great!
